I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Remote shell / reboot

It would be great to have remote access to the pi OS via the web portal (piSignage supports it).

Sometimes I need to reboot, or remotely shut down, and there's no way at the moment.

We already have started working on an improved way to communicate with the devices. Within a 2 releases (3 months), we will provide Action buttons in each Monitor entry to remotely reboot/shutdown the Player, as well as other actions, like turn the TV on/off, delete all Media cache, remotely re-image the Player with the latest SD card image, and more.

The first action will a Reboot. We are targeting for the upcoming release in 5 weeks from now, hope we can make it till then.

    • Add Support for Video Walls

Please consider providing video wall support. 2x2 would be sufficient for our needs. Thanks!

We are working hard to deliver a full-fledged Video Wall solution for the upcoming release. Support will be the minimal required, so you will have to do the measurements and calculations yourself (or reach out and we will help). But all the essential features for setting up a great-looking video wall will be there.

We suggest using the LKV373A device that works as an HDMI-to-LAN converter (actually, it converts the HDMI signal to an RTP H.264 streaming video). Costs about $36, here is a link on eBay:

        http://www.ebay.com/itm/191750919298

You can also use any HDMI-to-IP video streamer (there are more expensive options out there that you might find locally).

You will be able to use X+1 Players for supporting X number of screens (in any orientation or relative position, even asymmetric layouts) . The output of the “master” Player will be connected to the above HDMI-to-RTP

      • Add more status reports from Players

Add reports from players, including what is being played right now, how much storage is available, what are the network configurations currently, etc
