Tomorrow, we are releasing Chrome support for Custom Widgets. Would that work for you?
Nevertheless, this is a valid request to be considered.
We plan to add support for other scrolling Widgets, like feeds and more. We also plan to provide access to this through HTML5.
Please post comments with any ideas that you have.
I find the black gap between videos or images is too short. I've been adding in 2 second black slides to help but it would be nice if we could customize the length of time between for the black gap instead of only having it preset.1 vote
The duration of the black gap is not entirely under our control right now. Your request is reasonable though.
We are planning a major internal change to the Player’s software that will allow us finer control of the playback procedure. I will leave this request open so that I can update it if we get any update from the dev team if it is feasible or not.
To simplify widget installation, it would be nice if the back-end could look for a json file (maybe ui.json or schema.json) in the widget's zip file, and import it automatically into the UI configuration area if it exists.1 vote
Sounds reasonable, but it is difficult to implement this feature now. Uploaded zip packages are delivered directly to our cloud storage, not going through the application server. We would have to extract the JSON UI Schema file from the package. And this would also have other workflow issues (what happens if it is broken, etc).
I am leaving this feature here to see what traction it gets from other users.
Ability to manually set the resolution on the pi8 votes
Right now, you need to follow this guide to change the resolution on your Player:
We will be adding all useful configuration options like this (e.g. resolution, refresh rate, audio, component-vs-HDMI, disabling on-screen warning icons, etc) as menu items within the Yodeck portal, so that you can easily change these.
The ability to style ticker (expecially rss one) with Css. Also including Google Font through css6 votes
Right now, the ticker is generated via a Python drawing library and the images are scrolled using the GPU. We plan to change this to HTML-based drawing of the ticker. We could then add an option for providing custom CSS styling for the text. I guess this should work fine for you.
Yodeck currently works only on the Raspberry Pi hardware platform. It would be great to have Yodeck on Android-powered devices.19 votes
We do plan to provide a Yodeck Player app for Android. As you may understand, this requires a lot of effort. So, it might take several months until it gets completed. We target the end of 2017 for a first version, but it may well be 2018 until it gets released.
Would be awesome to be able to receive monitor status alerts via Pushover. Would be pretty simple to implement. User would enter their key and then they would receive notifications for all monitors on their account. This would be especially useful for me as a reseller.7 votes
We plan to provide for more complex notifications settings. This will include mobile app notifications (not sure if it is going to be Pushover or our own app), custom email notifications, even SMS notifications.
Moving from One Playlist to another in a schedule is not very clean right now. If the system can either pre-load the next playlist so that it behaves like a new clip, or hold a pre-defined slide so that the screen does not go black between changes.7 votes
We do plan to improve on the time it takes to switch from one Show to the next. Doing a preload on a Show-level, has some implications, but it could work.
In the mean time, you might be served by this feature:
Finally, due to the implementation, providing for smooth Shows transition would require this feature implemented first:
We are going to mark this as Accepted, but it will take some time till you see it released.
Additional Fonts12 votes
If you are talking about additional font for the Web Page viewer, we would need more information. Perhaps, this is resolved by the addition of Chromium browser (check this idea: http://support.yodeck.com/forums/301815-general/suggestions/13794672-ability-to-render-more-advanced-web-content)
If you are talking about the RSS Ticker, we plan to add support for a Unicode font, so that all characters can be rendered (Chinese being the most problematic one right now).
Please provide more feedback on this.
Support right-to-left languages (like Arabic and Hebrew) for the RSS ticker8 votes
RTL support will be added soon.
A request to either set a custom error page or leave it black because on larger displays (billboards) the 'Unable to load page' with white background lights up a whole neighbourhood at night.1 vote
Makes perfect sense, we already had it in our backlog internally. Probably, you will be able to set an uploaded image or a Widget as the “Error Page”.
Building on : http://support.yodeck.com/forums/301815-general/suggestions/13294017-weekday-filter
we would like it to be possible to specify a specific number of days for the "Every" field (recurrence).
Many restaurants use a menu that cycles either weekly, biweekly, triweekly, etc. (In most cases here we have a tri-weekly menu rotation). What would be great in the scheduler is to be able to schedule a show “Every Monday” or to repeat “Every 3rd Monday” for example. Microsoft Task Scheduler in Windows is an example of how this would work.20 votes
Onscreen keyboard widget to interact with items on you display1 vote
Yodeck has limited support for interactivity. Right now, you can build and upload HTML5 apps as Widgets, but they must not be placed as overlays in order for them to be interactive. Same goes for Web Pages.
An on-screen keyboard would be a nice addition. Given that this would require a touch screen, we would also have to implement an easy way to setup and calibrate touchscreens (can be done).
We are marking this feature as Accepted and we will see down the road how things progress.
show screen number when playing items in playlist, now showing n of x , and possibly a timer couting down to next item.2 votes
Showing Playlist-level and item-level progress could be useful. Although not a high-priority, we will be adding this.
We are also adding native PDF support shortly, so this will be beneficial in case of text content.
Would like to see the Add Images buttons duplicated at the top of the image list as well as the bottom. If I know its a new image, I shouldnt have to scroll all the way to the end to add another1 vote
Your feedback is valid. I do not know if the proposed layout is the best possible. We will have to see when we make some changes to the UI (for sure, within the next 2 months)
Option to set an interval to refresh a Web Page.2 votes
Right now, you can refresh a web page by adding it multiple time in a Playlist. This way, the Web Page will get refreshed.
Another way to do this now is through the Web Scripting engine.
Both of these ways are no so practical, and definitely not obvious. So, we will be adding this option soon.
This feature request has several implications.
First of all, it has little to do with CEC. The same request could be asking for USB IR remotes (which are internally handled by Linux as keyboard presses).
Right now, our playback engine is fully automated. This means that, you cannot affect the playback status of a playlist (move forward, backwards, etc). But, we plan to refactor the Player shortly to allow for different Playlist management.
So, while this is not a core-feature to add, it will probably be possible to add it via a Custom Widget. So, we will leave it here to check it out when the time comes.
We have Beamer they not hear on the CEC Command, they have only a Interface for Relais for commands, is there a way to use the gpio's to trigger 2 Relais on schedule start and at the end to off? At this time we have there 2 Raspberrys. One for Yodeck and one for a time based solution but in one device it would be great :D
Best wishes5 votes
If you want to use this for turning the beamer on/ and off, then you can create a custom power script. Whenever the “Turned Off” special Show is used, you would set the GPIO pin accordingly. Here are the details: https://www.yodeck.com/docs/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=327908
Overall, we plan to provide access to GPIO pins through Custom Widgets, so we are keeping this idea as accepted,
Broadcast an immediate message on all screens or a group of screens.7 votes
Although it sounds interesting, this feature needs refinement.
In the new version to be released this week, we do have a text Widget. You could add this text Widget to all Shows on top of all other content. You would set it to transparent background and do not type anything. Then, when ever you wanted to sent a message, you would edit the Widget, type the message, and push to all devices. But would this suffice as an “emergency broadcast”?
If you are interested in this feature, please leave more comments and discuss further.
