At last, the Show Preview is available on our production site! You can now a) see a preview version of Widgets working right inside the Show Editor, b) see how transparency looks like with Images and Widgets, c) preview/edit the Show in fullscreen mode! All these three changes provide for a much easier editing/previewing experience!

Within the next couple of months, we investigate expanding it to also provide some form of Video/Playlist playback in the browser. Either we do implement this final step or not, this will be publicly available on our next release scheduled for September 27th!

At last, we have started working on a Show Preview! As a first step, we will provide much more realistic editing experience, closer to the actual output. To do that, we will implement three features or changes: 1) allow our standard HTML Widgets to have a preview within the Show Editor, 2) provide a full-screen Show editing mode, 3) properly display transparency for images and HTML Widgets.

Now, concerning the web-based preview, we are working on a Web-powered Yodeck Player. This Player will be the basis for building a preview through the browser. This is quite hard to implement. Really hard. We are working towards that direction and we will definitely deliver, but it might take some months to have it working. Also, it is important to understand that not all features will be available through the web-based player. It remains to be seen how many will not be available, but things like running code on Web Pages with our script engine, will likely not be possible through that.

Still, we want to provide a good way to taste the platform before ordering a player, so it is definitely coming. It is just hard to do and will take some more time.

We will be providing 2 distinct features for accommodating this need:

First, we will allow paid accounts to use an extra (free) test Monitor. This test monitor will regularly show an overlay of the Yodeck logo on top of content, so it will not be suitable to be used as public display. It will be used solely for testing out changes to Monitors before pushing.

Then, we will be developing a full-fledge Web Player. This Web Player will have a unique URL which you will be able to open up on any browser. From that point on, you will be able to manage content displayed as with any other Pi-based Player. We will then use this Player to also display a one-time preview of the Show.
