This would really be the icing on the cake, as far as flexibility is concerned.
For example, if I have a clock widget it is a set colour for the entire show, so if the background changes to a similar colour (and the widget's background is transparent), it becomes invisible.
Being able to add shows to a playlist would cure this, and enable other things that multiple layouts would bring.246 votes
We have created the technical roadmap for delivering this and have started working on that. We need to evaluation options when it comes to User Experience and how this will be made available to users – likely, we will just allow users to add Layouts to Playlists. Feel free to provide feedback on that.
Overall, our current estimation is that this will be something that you will likely see in your account towards the end of the year. Gradually, we will be releasing parts of it, e.g. fast switching from Layout to Layout. We will be updating you all so stay tuned!
I've developed a couple of widgets, and more will no doubt follow. It would be great to have somewhere to share them - either free or for a nominal charge, like the appstores for iPhone/android/the other one.154 votes
Yes, we do plan to have a Widget marketplace. :-) It is great that you are interested in this, hope we have more Partners and people coming in and voting for this one!
Should be nice to have integration with O365 (Calendar, Sway, Stream..) too and not only capability vs. Google Suite.108 votes
NDI is the new standard for high def, low latency streaming video in broadcasting and the entertainement industry. More information at https://ndi.tv/about-ndi/66 votes
Can you add the options to schedule a show every: hour, quarter and/or every ... minutes.
We like to show a standard show which will be overruled by a dedicated show every ´x´ minutes. Now we can't use the scheduler for that.
Thanks in advance.64 votes
This is indeed in our plans. We will add support for recurrence in hours and minutes. Thank you for your suggestion!
Would be nice to have API access to your account in different ways.
Get - Get access to your account data & configurations. Connect to the API to get configurations & information of your players.
POST - Send show commands to the API. to change between shows on different players.
Longshot.. But would be nice :p62 votes
Our whole backend (server) provides an RESTful HTTP API. This is currently used only by our UI, the User Interface that our users see on their screen.
This API needs to be documented and polished up, but it is (more or less) already usable for special purposes. We will just provide you with a access token.
We are planning to release a fully documented API spec within Q2-2017.
Add the ability to set the input of the TV via CEC with an existing schedule. For example, when I start content (turn the TV on), reset the input of the TV to a specific HDMI input.61 votes
We will be creating a special Widget that will allow you to switch to specific HDMI inputs, or switch to the Live TV. All of this will happen through the HDMI cable using the HDMI-CEC protocol.
DISCLAIMER: This might not work with all screen brands. We will be performing tests to let our Users know some brands that work with this, but we can’t really test all brands out there.
In order to further improve compatibility, this Widget will also allow you to setup custom HDMI-CEC commands, so that you can control your TV.
Since this feature will be a Widget, it means that you will be able to add it to a Playlist (e.g. playback a 20" video and then switch to Live TV, and loop this), or add it to a schedule to have timed changes.
I would like to see more widgets. A better time widget. A better weather widget. I would like to add a wether cam widget.60 votes
We are growing the Yodeck team with more developers and designers. Within September, we will start working on existing Widgets to make them better looking and more efficient. And we will also start working on new Widgets; social widgets to start with!
It will be nice to be able to trigger content on demand via an external physical source like a USB button or via a UDP command form a mobile app. Features like play media on demand or be able to control playback features.57 votes
We are planning to provide trigger support within 2020.
We are now in the process of restructuring our rendering engine in order to allow several features to be implemented. One of these features is triggers. We are planning to initially support UDP, TCP/HTTP, GPIO events, and then support keyboard/mouse events.
[Draft Specs follow:] Triggers will be available as a different menu item, in order to manage, set them up, test them, and so on. After setting them up, Users will be able to use them in Playlists, e.g. to skip a Media (or Subplaylist) entry, jump to specific Media (or Subplaylist) entry, and so on.
Virtual player within the configuration webpage so that we can test/see what the results should be before pushing to a live player. Would also be great to be able to create virtual video wall functionality, configure everything as we need. Then we could swap out the virtual players for real players easily for a live implementation.50 votes
Touchscreen Support47 votes
We do have customers using touchscreens with Yodeck. We do plan to provide some better support for configuring the touchscreen.
Touchscreens are usable with Widgets and Web Page, and we plan to expand support for navigating content (move to next, previous) and add support for an on-screen keyboard and navigation buttons for the web browser.
Office 365 is a source of most of our data, it would be great to be able to connect a data source and display in a template either a video from Stream or a planner or selected fields form a SharePoint list. Need a way to use a service account to connect to O365 and then companies could pull from libraries and have their own approval processes for slides and content upload.40 votes
Please add a National Weather Service Emergency Alert Widget that can be placed on all shows and will remain hidden unless EAS ACTIVATION
Please add a National Weather Service Emergency Alert WIdget that can be placed on all shows and will remain hidden unless the EAS has been activated for Flood warnings, Severe weather warnings and watches in the area of the YoDeck System based on IP or GPS39 votes
We have started working on Emergency Alert, however the first version will be changing the whole screen content. You can find more info here:http://support.yodeck.com/forums/301815/suggestions/35378989
After this is released, we will soon start working on ticker-based alerts, to allow showing alerts on top of normally displayed content.
Multiple video areas38 votes
For example: a video clip starts at 00:00 and ends at 10:15.
Can Yodeck play that video clip only from 01:10 to 06:15?35 votes
Sounds reasonable. We need to review if this would be possible.
Display images / photos either cyclically or randomly from nominated Google Drive folders.33 votes
Update: we already support Dropbox for automatically picking up Media files. More details here: http://support.yodeck.com/forums/301815/suggestions/38666818
While we started working on the Google Drive integration a couple of months back, it turned out to be quite convoluted, as it required a special authorization from Google that was too complicated to get at this point. Dropbox is much easier to provide, so we did that first (see the link above).
We are planning to resume work for Google Drive support towards Q1-Q2 2021.
Social Media Wall widgets for all the main social media sites will be key...even better, a social media feed aggregator!! I'd like a google calendar widget...a free form static box text widget would be great as well.32 votes
We will be gradually adding Widget. For sure, it will include social feeds.
Yodeck currently works only on the Raspberry Pi hardware platform. It would be great to have Yodeck on Android-powered devices.32 votes
We do plan to provide a Yodeck Player app for Android. As you may understand, this requires a lot of effort. So, it might take several months until it gets completed. We target the end of 2017 for a first version, but it may well be 2018 until it gets released.
Building on : http://support.yodeck.com/forums/301815-general/suggestions/13294017-weekday-filter
we would like it to be possible to specify a specific number of days for the "Every" field (recurrence).
Many restaurants use a menu that cycles either weekly, biweekly, triweekly, etc. (In most cases here we have a tri-weekly menu rotation). What would be great in the scheduler is to be able to schedule a show “Every Monday” or to repeat “Every 3rd Monday” for example. Microsoft Task Scheduler in Windows is an example of how this would work.28 votes
Please add a vertical scrolling text widget26 votes
We are re-designing several internal parts of our playback engine that will make this feature possible towards early 2020. Stay tuned!
