Support caching on Web Pages - for pages that are relatively static it would be useful to cache them in the player instead of repeatedly going out to the internet for slowly changing content. I use the webpage feature to pull in a local weather feed - the page hoster noticed that I'm polling 500+ times/day - I'd really like to only look for an updated page every 30 minutes or so.1 vote
This feature is already in our roadmap. It is closely related to the “Refresh” feature for Web Pages.
We are planning to provide an option that will enable you not to “cache” the Web Page, but instead take a “screenshot” of the page, store it and show it for the duration specified by the user, and then refresh it.
This will be provided soon, towards mid-2018.
Countdown timer Widget12 votes
Sounds like a nice little thingy that could be useful!
Allows "interaction" between different screens using different videos e.g. 2 people talking to each other from one screen to the next.6 votes
We are planning to provide support for playback synchronization across Playlists within the same device and across Playlists on different devices. This will be provided as a toggle called “synced playback” on Playlists. It will use the current time to sync playback across all Playlists marked as synced.
This will come towards the end of Q2-1028. In the meantime, we have a workaround that has the same effect with some restrictions and a bit weird setup. Reach out if you want to try it out.
Mark changes to be pushed when done rendering. It sometimes takes hours for changes to make it through the queue and be ready to push. I'd like an option to have changes automatically push when ready.4 votes
Makes perfect sense, we will add it in a future release.
new functionality for a playlist: a button to automatically fill a playlist with all the videos in random order1 vote
When creating a Playlist, you can switch to a “Folder View”, and easily select all Media and add them to a Playlist. We are providing a “random playback” toggle for all Playlists towards Q2-2018.
Is there anything else that you had in mind? With these two things, is your request covered?
are u support Chinese (simplified) in ticker?1 vote
Yes, we do support Chinese (and other) character sets. By default, we have not included Chinese support because the fonts are really big and would use too much storage on the SD card.
If you need Chinese, please contact us and we will set up Chinese fonts in your Players.
Eventually, we do plan to include support for all characters. We will be changing the ticker rendering code to support HTML, so all fonts will be eventually supported with the best possible way.
Please allow me to switch off "Are you sure you want to push all changes to players?"
Yes, I'm sure but if I get it wrong, it's my problem or I can put it back easily. People mostly press Yes automatically anyway, so what's the point? It actually takes away from really important messages like "You are about to delete ALL data - are you sure?"
Please give us a "Don't show this again".2 votes
The “Push to Players?” button will soon be modified to show a pop-up window. In this window, you will be given the option to schedule the push; you choose if you want to push now, or do the push on a specific date/time.
We will probably incorporate your suggestion in this new popup. In the meanwhile, we might also add it in the confirmation pop-up in a following release.
I've developed a couple of widgets, and more will no doubt follow. It would be great to have somewhere to share them - either free or for a nominal charge, like the appstores for iPhone/android/the other one.51 votes
Yes, we do plan to have a Widget marketplace. :-) It is great that you are interested in this, hope we have more Partners and people coming in and voting for this one!
A request to either set a custom error page or leave it black because on larger displays (billboards) the 'Unable to load page' with white background lights up a whole neighbourhood at night.1 vote
Makes perfect sense, we already had it in our backlog internally. Probably, you will be able to set an uploaded image or a Widget as the “Error Page”.
We plan to add support for other scrolling Widgets, like feeds and more. We also plan to provide access to this through HTML5.
Please post comments with any ideas that you have.
The ability to style ticker (expecially rss one) with Css. Also including Google Font through css6 votes
Right now, the ticker is generated via a Python drawing library and the images are scrolled using the GPU. We plan to change this to HTML-based drawing of the ticker. We could then add an option for providing custom CSS styling for the text. I guess this should work fine for you.
Ability to manually set the resolution on the pi5 votes
Right now, you need to follow this guide to change the resolution on your Player:
We will be adding all useful configuration options like this (e.g. resolution, refresh rate, audio, component-vs-HDMI, disabling on-screen warning icons, etc) as menu items within the Yodeck portal, so that you can easily change these.
Would like to see the Add Images buttons duplicated at the top of the image list as well as the bottom. If I know its a new image, I shouldnt have to scroll all the way to the end to add another1 vote
Your feedback is valid. I do not know if the proposed layout is the best possible. We will have to see when we make some changes to the UI (for sure, within the next 2 months)
Moving from One Playlist to another in a schedule is not very clean right now. If the system can either pre-load the next playlist so that it behaves like a new clip, or hold a pre-defined slide so that the screen does not go black between changes.6 votes
We do plan to improve on the time it takes to switch from one Show to the next. Doing a preload on a Show-level, has some implications, but it could work.
In the mean time, you might be served by this feature:
Finally, due to the implementation, providing for smooth Shows transition would require this feature implemented first:
We are going to mark this as Accepted, but it will take some time till you see it released.
Onscreen keyboard widget to interact with items on you display1 vote
Yodeck has limited support for interactivity. Right now, you can build and upload HTML5 apps as Widgets, but they must not be placed as overlays in order for them to be interactive. Same goes for Web Pages.
An on-screen keyboard would be a nice addition. Given that this would require a touch screen, we would also have to implement an easy way to setup and calibrate touchscreens (can be done).
We are marking this feature as Accepted and we will see down the road how things progress.
Would be awesome to be able to receive monitor status alerts via Pushover. Would be pretty simple to implement. User would enter their key and then they would receive notifications for all monitors on their account. This would be especially useful for me as a reseller.6 votes
We plan to provide for more complex notifications settings. This will include mobile app notifications (not sure if it is going to be Pushover or our own app), custom email notifications, even SMS notifications.
A social wall widget for Instagram would be a great feature. It would be nice to pull from users Instagram photos which are location tagged to the outlet or that use particular hashtags.10 votes
Would be great to have 4k 25Hz support.
Otherwise this is the best digital signage software i have tested.17 votes
Our software fully supports 4K. The problem is with our hardware platform, the Raspberry Pi.
The Pi does not support 4K resolution out of the box. We have managed to push it to use 4K on Samsung TVs (check this link: http://support.yodeck.com/knowledgebase/articles/891513-changing-the-screen-resolution)
The problem is that 4K content is really heavy. The Pi also does not support 4K video decoding. That is why we are planning to support the Asus Tinker Board. Here is our relevant blog post: https://www.yodeck.com/news/asus-tinker-board-digital-signage/
With the Tinker Board, we might be able to provide an option that will fully support 4K resolution and 4K video decoding. Also, the Tinker board is faster and has 2GB of RAM, which would allow for more complex usage scenarios. We are partnering up with Asus to see how we could work on this to get it delivered.
Support right-to-left languages (like Arabic and Hebrew) for the RSS ticker1 vote
RTL support will be added soon.
Option to set an interval to refresh a Web Page.2 votes
Right now, you can refresh a web page by adding it multiple time in a Playlist. This way, the Web Page will get refreshed.
Another way to do this now is through the Web Scripting engine.
Both of these ways are no so practical, and definitely not obvious. So, we will be adding this option soon.
