Show preview capability would be an amazing help. Right now there's no way to see a show without pushing it to a real monitor.110 votes
We will be providing 2 distinct features for accommodating this need:
First, we will allow paid accounts to use an extra (free) test Monitor. This test monitor will regularly show an overlay of the Yodeck logo on top of content, so it will not be suitable to be used as public display. It will be used solely for testing out changes to Monitors before pushing.
Then, we will be developing a full-fledge Web Player. This Web Player will have a unique URL which you will be able to open up on any browser. From that point on, you will be able to manage content displayed as with any other Pi-based Player. We will then use this Player to also display a one-time preview of the Show.
Hope this works for all of you guys. Please be kind enough to leave a comment if you think otherwise.
I've developed a couple of widgets, and more will no doubt follow. It would be great to have somewhere to share them - either free or for a nominal charge, like the appstores for iPhone/android/the other one.88 votes
Yes, we do plan to have a Widget marketplace. :-) It is great that you are interested in this, hope we have more Partners and people coming in and voting for this one!
I suggest a simple weather widget that could be used on our displays. Nothing fancy - just the current weather and perhaps the next 5 days?71 votes
We will be releasing a full-fledged Weather widget soon.
In the mean time, you can now find a (local only) weather Widget based on the web widget provided by Accuweather.com. This is available on the production site right now.
Overall, we are planning to provide a better Weather Widget, that will perform much better, work offline, show forecasts, etc, so we will not be closing this idea yet.

Supporting ICS files/URLs natively on Yodeck (and not being displayed from an online service through a Web Page) has been coming up in requests. This requires a new Widget and some serious development.
We are growing the team, and new team members coming on board will start working on new Widgets, with focus on the main social widgets and this calendar widget. These two are the most requested features so far.
I would like to see more widgets. A better time widget. A better weather widget. I would like to add a wether cam widget.31 votes
We are growing the Yodeck team with more developers and designers. Within September, we will start working on existing Widgets to make them better looking and more efficient. And we will also start working on new Widgets; social widgets to start with!
A social wall widget for Instagram would be a great feature. It would be nice to pull from users Instagram photos which are location tagged to the outlet or that use particular hashtags.28 votes
Social Media Wall widgets for all the main social media sites will be key...even better, a social media feed aggregator!! I'd like a google calendar widget...a free form static box text widget would be great as well.28 votes
We will be gradually adding Widget. For sure, it will include social feeds.
Is there a plan to add social media widgets? I saw someone post an idea for a widget store but if a default twitter widget were available that could be very useful. Mentions on one display and a complete twitter feed on the other would be ideal.26 votes

Option to manually enter WIFI name and password directly to "Player". This would be really appreciated.
e.g.: Client connects keyboard and mouse. After pressing some keyboard shortcut(e.g. ALT+W) graphic window will pop up and allow to choose wifi and set password.20 votes
This makes perfect sense. And we are already working on that. Hopefully, we will provide something soon.
Yodeck currently works only on the Raspberry Pi hardware platform. It would be great to have Yodeck on Android-powered devices.19 votes
We do plan to provide a Yodeck Player app for Android. As you may understand, this requires a lot of effort. So, it might take several months until it gets completed. We target the end of 2017 for a first version, but it may well be 2018 until it gets released.
Building on : http://support.yodeck.com/forums/301815-general/suggestions/13294017-weekday-filter
we would like it to be possible to specify a specific number of days for the "Every" field (recurrence).
Many restaurants use a menu that cycles either weekly, biweekly, triweekly, etc. (In most cases here we have a tri-weekly menu rotation). What would be great in the scheduler is to be able to schedule a show “Every Monday” or to repeat “Every 3rd Monday” for example. Microsoft Task Scheduler in Windows is an example of how this would work.17 votes
Would be great to have 4k 25Hz support.
Otherwise this is the best digital signage software i have tested.17 votes
Our software fully supports 4K. The problem is with our hardware platform, the Raspberry Pi.
The Pi does not support 4K resolution out of the box. We have managed to push it to use 4K on Samsung TVs (check this link: http://support.yodeck.com/knowledgebase/articles/891513-changing-the-screen-resolution)
The problem is that 4K content is really heavy. The Pi also does not support 4K video decoding. That is why we are planning to support the Asus Tinker Board. Here is our relevant blog post: https://www.yodeck.com/news/asus-tinker-board-digital-signage/
With the Tinker Board, we might be able to provide an option that will fully support 4K resolution and 4K video decoding. Also, the Tinker board is faster and has 2GB of RAM, which would allow for more complex usage scenarios. We are partnering up with Asus to see how we could work on this to get it delivered.
Would be nice to have API access to your account in different ways.
Get - Get access to your account data & configurations. Connect to the API to get configurations & information of your players.
POST - Send show commands to the API. to change between shows on different players.
Longshot.. But would be nice :p16 votes
Our whole backend (server) provides an RESTful HTTP API. This is currently used only by our UI, the User Interface that our users see on their screen.
This API needs to be documented and polished up, but it is (more or less) already usable for special purposes. We will just provide you with a access token.
We are planning to release a fully documented API spec within Q2-2017.
It would be great to have a container item to add into playlist for play random videos. For example a container with promotional clips or ads.
The idea is to play 1 random clip and then next media in my playlist.
- General info
- Container (1 random ad from folder "my-ads")
- Product clip
- Container (1 random promo from folder "my-promos")
- ... and so on16 votes
We are planning to provide a) sub-playlists b) random playback.
Subplaylists will be used as items in regular Playlists. Both Playlists and SubPlaylists will have the option to be played back randomly. And when you will add SubPlaylists to a Playlist, you will have the option to say “Play 3 items from this SubPlaylist” or “Play 1 hour from this SubPlaylist”.
That’s the design we currently have in mind, I think it is pretty close to final.
I suggest a new widget for non-scrolling text for news / RSS Feed, which would display the entire message for 5 - 10 seconds.16 votes

Allow playlists to be randomised or shuffled14 votes
Tag-based Playlists will perform a shuffle before sending out the Playlist.
In any case, we will be adding support for Random Playback really soon, right after our new playback engine is ready.
Would like to have a display set up in a waiting room playing a standard general show. But, when a new client arrives would like to "push a button" and have a more detailed show played. It could simply be a predefined named show and GPIO pin to initiate it. Schedule could be set to "Manual".12 votes
We are looking into how we could support event-driven Show changes within the current user interface. We want to keep things simple, so this will not be easy. Most probably, we will expand the new entry form in the Schedules section to provide event checks (besides time frames).
For sure, we will work on event-triggered Show changes after a) we minimize the time required to change Shows, and b) we improve the user interface in the Schedules section to make it more intuitive. These two items are required to make sure that this new feature improves Yodeck and does not degrade overall user experience.
Add the ability to control the device volume.12 votes
We will add at least the option to mute the Player. Managing volume is a bit more complex, but we will look into it.
It would be great and very helpful if Yodeck able to provide live chat support.12 votes
In order to provide Live Chat support, we need to have tech support agents available 24/7. Right now, we are generally available through email between 4am-4pm (US Eastern time) on weekdays and same hours for urgent issues on weekends. We are planning to extend this to cover the whole 24 hours as soon as we have the resources required.
Multiple video areas10 votes
This is due to a restriction impose by the Raspberry Pi hardware. We plan to allow soon using at least two videos. We are also conducting tests with Raspberry Pi 3 to establish the best possible solution.
We are working towards a solution that might allow 2 videos running concurrently, provided that the bitrates and resolutions are within range.
- Don't see your idea?
