I've developed a couple of widgets, and more will no doubt follow. It would be great to have somewhere to share them - either free or for a nominal charge, like the appstores for iPhone/android/the other one.3 votes
Yes, we do plan to have a Widget marketplace. :-) It is great that you are interested in this, hope we have more Partners and people coming in and voting for this one!
A social wall widget for Instagram would be a great feature. It would be nice to pull from users Instagram photos which are location tagged to the outlet or that use particular hashtags.5 votes
Add audio as a separate asset. I want to play a song behind my graphic slides28 votes
We will provide:
1) audio files you upload, as a new Media type
2) audio tracks from Youtube videos, as a new Media type
3) audio management for Shows – you will be able to add a Playlist that will only provide audio
Additionally, we will provide audio device management, so you will be able to Mute the Player, change the output volume, and more.
Ability to have a Master Playlist that can play sub-playlists. (i.e. for Real Estate).

-- 590 Maroon Bell Ave. Listing

Sub-playlists are indeed required.
We will be probably adding SubPlaylists as a new type of playlist. So, you will have:
- Playlists (accept Media and SubPlaylists as items)
- SubPlaylists (accept only Media as items)
This is only 2-levels deep; no Playlists of SubPlaylists of SubPlaylists, and so on…
Moving from One Playlist to another in a schedule is not very clean right now. If the system can either pre-load the next playlist so that it behaves like a new clip, or hold a pre-defined slide so that the screen does not go black between changes.2 votes
We do plan to improve on the time it takes to switch from one Show to the next. Doing a preload on a Show-level, has some implications, but it could work.
In the mean time, you might be served by this feature:
Finally, due to the implementation, providing for smooth Shows transition would require this feature implemented first:
We are going to mark this as Accepted, but it will take some time till you see it released.
Building on : http://support.yodeck.com/forums/301815-general/suggestions/13294017-weekday-filter
we would like it to be possible to specify a specific number of days for the "Every" field (recurrence).
Many restaurants use a menu that cycles either weekly, biweekly, triweekly, etc. (In most cases here we have a tri-weekly menu rotation). What would be great in the scheduler is to be able to schedule a show “Every Monday” or to repeat “Every 3rd Monday” for example. Microsoft Task Scheduler in Windows is an example of how this would work.9 votes
I suggest a simple weather widget that could be used on our displays. Nothing fancy - just the current weather and perhaps the next 5 days?61 votes
We will be releasing a full-fledged Weather widget soon.
In the mean time, you can now find a (local only) weather Widget based on the web widget provided by Accuweather.com. This is available on the production site right now.
Overall, we are planning to provide a better Weather Widget, that will perform much better, work offline, show forecasts, etc, so we will not be closing this idea yet.
Social Media Wall widgets for all the main social media sites will be key...even better, a social media feed aggregator!! I'd like a google calendar widget...a free form static box text widget would be great as well.23 votes
We will be gradually adding Widget. For sure, it will include social feeds.
The ability to style ticker (expecially rss one) with Css. Also including Google Font through css2 votes
Right now, the ticker is generated via a Python drawing library and the images are scrolled using the GPU. We plan to change this to HTML-based drawing of the ticker. We could then add an option for providing custom CSS styling for the text. I guess this should work fine for you.
Show preview capability would be an amazing help. Right now there's no way to see a show without pushing it to a real monitor.46 votes
We will be providing 2 distinct features for accommodating this need:
First, we will allow paid accounts to use an extra (free) test Monitor. This test monitor will regularly show an overlay of the Yodeck logo on top of content, so it will not be suitable to be used as public display. It will be used solely for testing out changes to Monitors before pushing.
Then, we will be developing a full-fledge Web Player. This Web Player will have a unique URL which you will be able to open up on any browser. From that point on, you will be able to manage content displayed as with any other Pi-based Player. We will then use this Player to also display a one-time preview of the Show.
Hope this works for all of you guys. Please be kind enough to leave a comment if you think otherwise.
Dynamic Playlists and Media Tags. (1) Ability to add "tags" to media. (2) Ability to define a playlist as: All Media with the tags: (LIVE) and ((Building-Main) or (Building-All)).
That way just adding a tag on media would push new content out to monitors. Likewise, removing the LIVE tag (in this example) would remove media from playlist.7 votes
This sounds interesting. Really interesting.
It blends a bit with Campaign reporting feature. But we will probably do this as you describe it.
Also, this would work very well the our Playlist vs SubPlaylist implementation. Check out this idea: http://support.yodeck.com/forums/301815-general/suggestions/16208410
So, besides Playlists and SubPlaylists, you could have TagPlaylist (as you describe it).
Would be nice to have API access to your account in different ways.
Get - Get access to your account data & configurations. Connect to the API to get configurations & information of your players.
POST - Send show commands to the API. to change between shows on different players.
Longshot.. But would be nice :p9 votes
Our whole backend (server) provides an RESTful HTTP API. This is currently used only by our UI, the User Interface that our users see on their screen.
This API needs to be documented and polished up, but it is (more or less) already usable for special purposes. We will just provide you with a access token.
We are planning to release a fully documented API spec within Q2-2017.
Would be great to have 4k 25Hz support.
Otherwise this is the best digital signage software i have tested.4 votes
Our software fully supports 4K. The problem is with our hardware platform, the Raspberry Pi.
The Pi does not support 4K resolution out of the box. We have managed to push it to use 4K on Samsung TVs (check this link: http://support.yodeck.com/knowledgebase/articles/891513-changing-the-screen-resolution)
The problem is that 4K content is really heavy. The Pi also does not support 4K video decoding. That is why we are planning to support the Asus Tinker Board. Here is our relevant blog post: https://www.yodeck.com/news/asus-tinker-board-digital-signage/
With the Tinker Board, we might be able to provide an option that will fully support 4K resolution and 4K video decoding. Also, the Tinker board is faster and has 2GB of RAM, which would allow for more complex usage scenarios. We are partnering up with Asus to see how we could work on this to get it delivered.
Any chance you could look at providing 2 factor authentication for access to the WebApp. Would be great for Whitelabel Partners3 votes
We plan to add 2-factor authentication, although not in our top priorities. We are considering SMS, email, and Google Authenticator.
A request to either set a custom error page or leave it black because on larger displays (billboards) the 'Unable to load page' with white background lights up a whole neighbourhood at night.1 vote
Makes perfect sense, we already had it in our backlog internally. Probably, you will be able to set an uploaded image or a Widget as the “Error Page”.
It would be great if there were a way to send power on or off CEC commands when your monitor doesn't come on.16 votes
Move to “Accepted” state. We will be adding some action buttons soon, like “Shutdown”, “Reboot”, etc, so we will add these also.
Yodeck currently works only on the Raspberry Pi hardware platform. It would be great to have Yodeck on Android-powered devices.4 votes
We do plan to provide a Yodeck Player app for Android. As you may understand, this requires a lot of effort. So, it might take several months until it gets completed. We target the end of 2017 for a first version, but it may well be 2018 until it gets released.
We plan to add support for other scrolling Widgets, like feeds and more. We also plan to provide access to this through HTML5.
Please post comments with any ideas that you have.
Would like to see the Add Images buttons duplicated at the top of the image list as well as the bottom. If I know its a new image, I shouldnt have to scroll all the way to the end to add another1 vote
Your feedback is valid. I do not know if the proposed layout is the best possible. We will have to see when we make some changes to the UI (for sure, within the next 2 months)
Ability to manually set the resolution on the pi4 votes
Right now, you need to follow this guide to change the resolution on your Player:
We will be adding all useful configuration options like this (e.g. resolution, refresh rate, audio, component-vs-HDMI, disabling on-screen warning icons, etc) as menu items within the Yodeck portal, so that you can easily change these.
- Don't see your idea?
